The winners of the State Olympiad in Foreign Languages have been announced. “Turkmenistan: Golden Age”, Ogulgozel Rejepova reported the news.

The final round of the competition was held at the Turkmen National Institute of World Languages named after Dovletmammet Azady. Students enrolled in short-term language courses in educational institutions from any ownership form were eligible. 217 young people from the capital and velayat training centers took the tests of the previous rounds and earned the right to compete for prizes in the final round.

The competitions consisted of English and Russian disciplines for students in four age levels. The first level covered students aged 12-13, the second level covered 14-15-year-olds, the third level covered 16-18-year-olds, and the fourth level covered those over 16.

Contestants of all age levels were tested on their knowledge of grammar, vocabulary, reading, and listening skills of the relevant foreign language. The tasks for students of the fourth age level were designed according to the internationally recognized methodology for assessing language knowledge.

Participants in the final round competed for 48 prizes in total, which included 1 first place, 2 second places, and 3 third places in each discipline and age level. Bahar Atayeva, Aygozel Halilova, Selbi Akmyradova, and Zubeyda Jumagylyjova demonstrated the best knowledge of the English language and took first place in the corresponding age levels. In the Russian language competitions, Aygul Gulmyradova, Selbi Orazova, Bahar Kurbanbayeva, and Dovletgeldi Alyyev took first place at four age levels, respectively. Almost all the winners studied in private language courses.

During the competition, students of the courses of the Turkmenabat branch of the enterprise «Zehin ýoly», the private enterprise «Kämil bilim», the enterprise «Altyn göreç», located in Mary velayat, and the enterprise «Belent bilim» distinguished themselves. Students of the courses of the educational organization «Bilim güzeri» from Mary velayat, and the educational organizations «Zehinli nesil» and «Merdem ýaşlar» from Dashoguz velayat also demonstrated their desire to improve their knowledge of foreign languages. In general, prize-winning places were taken by students of language courses from 16 training centers and their branches located in various regions of the country, which indicates the successful implementation of the Concept of Improving Foreign Language Teaching in Turkmenistan.

The winners of the State Olympiad in Foreign Languages were awarded diplomas from the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan and valuable gifts. Representatives of the organizing committees, panels of judges, and groups of observers received certificates of honor from the Ministry of Education for their active participation in organizing and conducting the competition. The festive atmosphere of the award ceremony for the winners and participants of the competition was enhanced by musical performances.
