Speaker of Turkmenistan’s Mejlis holds talks with Uzbekistan’s President

During her visit to Tashkent for the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, Speaker of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, Dunyagozel Gulmanova, met with President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, according to the press service of the Turkmen parliament.

 

The meeting also included parliamentary leaders from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan. The Turkmen delegation delivered greetings and well wishes from the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, to the President of Uzbekistan.

 

Discussions focused on the current dynamics of regional cooperation, with an emphasis on the growing role of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening bilateral ties. The historical and cultural bonds shared by Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan were highlighted, along with the importance of ongoing humanitarian and regional initiatives.

 

Both sides reaffirmed that the steady development of Turkmen-Uzbek relations is grounded in mutual respect, trust, and equitable partnership.

 

As part of her working trip, Gulmanova also met separately with Nuriddin Ismailov, Chairman of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan.
