Turkmenistan to host UN conference for Landlocked developing countries

Turkmenistan is set to host the Third International Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs) from August 5–8, 2025, in the Awaza National Tourist Zone. This event follows a resolution passed by the United Nations General Assembly, according to a statement released by Turkmenistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The conference is expected to welcome high-level delegations from UN member nations, as well as representatives from international financial institutions and regional organizations. Its agenda includes expert panels, roundtable discussions, and bilateral meetings with participation from global experts, academics, and business leaders.

The main objective of the conference is to support the economic growth of landlocked developing nations by advancing transportation and logistics infrastructure, promoting regional and global trade, and enabling their full integration into the world economy.

Discussion topics will focus on key issues such as transport corridors, cross-border commerce, energy access, food security, digital development, and climate change.

This major international gathering underscores Turkmenistan’s proactive role in regional cooperation and its commitment to tackling global issues.
